Shotgun cleaning and servicing

Shotgun maintenance is essential to ensure that your gun is safe to use and does not require any extensive repairs in the future. We provide a full in-house gun cleaning service for your complete peace of mind.

Having been established in 2002, you can be sure that we have the expertise needed, as well as enthusiasm and passion for the industry. Of our 29 years of experience, 22 were spent in the London gun trade, so you can be sure that we know everything there is to know about guns and the various models.

What is gun servicing?

A shotgun service is something every owner needs to invest in. This involves the professional cleaning of your gun and checking all of the parts to make sure that everything is operating as it should be.

The gun will be fully stripped and cleaned, with the parts lubricated and reassembled. All of the components are assessed and the gun can be tightened if required.

The benefits of gun servicing

There are many benefits associated with gun servicing, including the following:

  • Safety – A dirty gun is a dangerous gun, and so gun servicing is required to make sure that your gun is safe to use.
  • Reliability – If you do not maintain your gun, it is going to start to succumb to wear and tear, just like any other piece of equipment, which is why a professional service is a must.
  • Protect your investment – Guns are investments, and you want to ensure that they keep their value and last for many years to come. Gun servicing is the only way to make sure that this is the case.

How a gun servicing works

When you invest in gun servicing from Stephen & Son, we leave no stone unturned in ensuring your gun is thoroughly inspected and clean so that it delivers unbeatable performance and safety.

How long does gun servicing take?

The length of time that gun servicing takes depends on the amount of work that needs to be carried out. We will give you an accurate timeline after we have done an initial inspection.

The gun servicing process

When we conduct gun servicing, we will inspect the barrels, check trigger pull, safety system, mechanisms, barrel dents, barrels ribs, as well as removing lead residue. We also check the stock and forend wood for cracks and splits.

Many instruments are necessary to inspect a shotgun properly. Shown here are various instruments to inspect the barrels.

How often should you get your gun serviced?

This depends on a number of factors, including the age of your gun and how often you use it.

The weather conditions also make a difference too. Experts recommend that you have your gun serviced at least once a year, although a lot of people get their guns serviced more regularly than this.

How much does gun servicing cost?

There are a number of different factors that can determine how much gun servicing costs. This includes the type of gun being serviced, the manufacturer, and the extent of the damage if any.

The typical shotgun service price can vary depending on what is entailed. If there is a problem with any part and it needs to be replaced or repaired, this will need to be factored into the cost.

For instance, if the firing pins need to be replaced, this can cost approximately £50 per pin. If the gun needs to be tightened, this can cost between £30 and £250.

We offer gun repairs and gun replacement at our workshop so if you require these services, we can give you a quote upon request.

When you get your gun serviced by us, we will always give you an accurate estimate for our service.
